How to multiply your brain!

Ok, let’s assume you have a forward thinking vision for where you want to take your business and your whole life. You’re smart, disciplined, and highly focused. You have your vision written out in exquisite detail and you read it daily.  You take measurable actions each day toward your goals. You’re doing things right. Hopefully you’re not doing the right things alone.  If you are, you must multiply your brain power! You must create a Master Mind Alliance.

Early 20th century author Napolean Hill defines the Master Mind as “the coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose”.  He goes on to say ”no individual may have great power without utilizing the Master Mind”. In other words you can’t get there by yourself. You need more than one brain–no matter how smart you think yours is.

I must confess that this is an area in my business life where I have been challenged. So much of my life I have been going it alone. Early on, I bought into the common belief if you’re going get anywhere in life, you’re going have to do it yourself.  Nobody’s going to do it for you.  True enough, but even the Lone Ranger had Tonto to get him out of some tight jams.  The world moves too fast for one brain. We need collaborators that share our passion as if it were their own.

Battery Power / Brain Power

It’s common knowledge when you take a collection of batteries and link them together, they will produce far more energy than a single battery.  Brains operate the same way. Take a bunch of brains, put them together in a room and they will collectively produce more thought energy than a single brain. More importantly, the added energy produced collectively is available to all individually.  The smartest person in the room is the one surrounded by several other smart people!  The big ideas swim in a deep idea pool!

If you require a force-multiplier to achieve your goals, there is none better than a Master Mind Alliance with others whose capabilities, contacts, knowledge, talent and skill can be harnessed on your behalf.  Your results become quantum leaps fueled by the collective brain power of your Master Mind Alliance.  Conversely, your participation and contributions to the group serves the good of the other members. This increases your own personal sense of value as you contribute to success of others. Everybody has to win!

How to assemble your Master Mind Alliance.

clearly know your chief purpose. That focuses the lens on the kind and type of people to invite to join your alliance. Keep it around 8-10 members tops!

be razor sharp clear about what rewards, advantages and benefits you will offer your members in return for their contributions. Every one must agree on this understanding from day one.

don’t select people just because you like them. Choose people who not only share your vision, but will let you use their knowledge as if it were your own. It’s best to select people that have already achieved some level of success you are aspiring to reach yourself. These people can light the way for you.

meet as often as is useful for all. (The good news is you can all meet virtually anywhere and at anytime thanks to the internet).

at all times, there must be honesty, trust, respect, authenticity, integrity and cooperation in equal measure among all members of the alliance.

The important idea behind the Master Mind is that you begin to surround yourself with people you respect and admire, and in whose success you are equally invested.

Of course things will change. Along the way your circumstances may require you amend the members of your group. This is perfectly fine. Just as it is possible, other members may withdraw themselves from your group for their own reasons.  As you grow, you’ll find yourself scaling up your Master Mind Alliance to keep pace with your business.

As you begin to recruit your members, don’t be discouraged if you’re turned down by people you would love to have in your group. Afterall, the only people you really want are the people who really want to participate with you. Be clear and honest about your mission, and what’s in it for them in exchange for their contribution.  Keep yourself in the positive frame of mind that attracts the very brightest members to help you accomplish your mission.

If you have a group in place, please share what makes your Master Mind group an effective tool for all concerned.
